Spring Bar Admission Ceremony is April 30 at Supreme Court

The Annual Spring Bar Admission Ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. April 30 in the En Banc Courtroom at the Mississippi Supreme Court. Sixty-two people who took the February Bar Exam have been certified to be admitted to the Mississippi Bar.

The Bar Admission Ceremony will be webcast on the website of the Mississippi Judiciary. A link to the webcast is on the home page at http://courts.ms.gov/.

Supreme Court Justice James W. Kitchens of Crystal Springs will preside over the ceremony and administer the oath to practice before the Mississippi Supreme Court.

Hinds Chancery Judge Dewayne Thomas will administer the oath to practice before Mississippi Chancery and Circuit Courts. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jane M. Virden of Greenville will administer the oath to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Mississippi, and U.S. District Judge Daniel P. Jordan III of Jackson will administer the oath to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Mississippi. Fifth Circuit Judge Rhesa H. Barksdale of Jackson will administer the oath to practice before the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mississippi Bar President Eugene M. Harlow of Laurel will give the address on behalf of the Bar.

The 62 applicants for admission to the Mississippi Bar include 27 graduates of Mississippi College School of Law, 18 graduates of the University of Mississippi School of Law, and 17 graduates of out-of-state law schools.
